The Ministry of Health of Ethiopia, in collaboration with Love in Action Ethiopia (LIAE) as Sub Recipient (SR) and Beza Posterity Development Organization (BPDO) as Sub Sub Recipient (SSR), is implementing the Global Fund GC7 Project in close partnership with the Regional Health Bureau.
Together, we are advancing community led solutions to end tuberculosis (TB) through innovative, people centered approaches.
Peer Led Community Engagement
At the heart of this initiative are structured peer to peer discussion sessions, facilitated by trained TB survivors and peer educators. These sessions provide safe and inclusive spaces for:
- Learning
- Healing
- Open dialogue
- Empowerment
Key Objectives
The peer led sessions aim to:
- Reduce TB related stigma and misinformation
- Improve treatment adherence and ensure completion
- Promote early detection and timely linkage to care
- Strengthen survivor led advocacy and peer support networks
- Build community trust and ownership in the TB response
Transforming TB Care
Peer support is reshaping TB care worldwide extending beyond psychosocial and mental health support to include:
- Community accountability
- Participatory monitoring
- Delivery of people centered services
Strategic Contributions
This initiative strengthens:
- Community systems and peer led TB support mechanisms
- Stigma reduction and trust building within communities
- Access to services, demand generation, and accountability
- Sustainable community engagement in national TB responses
A Core Principle
Communities are not simply beneficiaries of the TB response they are leaders and drivers of change.
