Bringing Diagnostics Closer: BPDO Launches TB & Lung Health Screening in Gofa Zone

Love in Action Ethiopia (LIAE), together with its sub-recipient Beza Posterity Development Organization (BPDO), in partnership with the South Ethiopia Health Bureau and the Gofa Zone Health Department, is proud to launch the 4th Round of Targeted Mobile Outreach for Tuberculosis (TB) and Chronic Respiratory Disease screening.

📅 February 17–23, 2026

Our teams are delivering critical health services to underserved communities across Dimba Gofa Woreda and the Limatala PHCU catchment area, ensuring that even the most remote households are reached.

Throughout the week, mobile outreach teams working alongside health extension workers and community leaders are conducting house-to-house symptom screening and awareness sessions to reduce stigma surrounding TB and lung diseases such as asthma and COPD.

To strengthen early detection, the initiative is equipped with advanced diagnostic tools:

  • Two AI-enabled digital chest X-ray units for rapid, high-quality TB screening
  • Six spirometry devices for lung function assessment
  • Strong referral pathways to nearby health facilities for GeneXpert testing and treatment initiation

This TB REACH Wave 11 project prioritizes active case finding in hard-to-reach and high-burden areas. Early diagnosis saves lives, limits transmission, and strengthens the equity and resilience of the local health system. The initiative also enhances PHCU capacity through improved data reporting and gender‑responsive service delivery.

Hundreds of individuals are being reached every day—and the impact continues to grow.

Together, we are protecting vulnerable families and closing the gap in TB and chronic respiratory disease care in the Gofa Zone.
Stay tuned for more updates, and help us spread the word. Early screening changes everything.
