Meaningful Community Engagement: In all of the projects BPDO delivered under thematic areas, it strives to ensure meaningful engagement of the target community. The engagement of the target audiences begins during the program design and BPDO almost always facilitate forums for the community members are heard on their views of the program. Regular review meetings, feedback on the contents of the communication messages and quality of services are among the areas where the beneficiaries contribute. Our HIV work listed above is mainly driven by peer-led interventions which clearly shown empowerment among the target audiences. The human centered design employed in many of the programs we implemented facilitated community ownership, transparency and creating self-reliance.
Strong Partnership and Networking: Over the years, BPDO has developed an exemplary partnership among the relevant stakeholders at all level starting from the sub national units (SNUs) to the regional and national relevant authorities. Its core values built on mutual trust, respect, transparency and accountability paved the way for the meaningful and lasting partnership we created without partners both local and international. Our staff commitment to deliver high quality results has been a cornerstone for the trust our donors and community put on us. Our partnership is rooted both in the formal and informal community structures as well as international and national partners and local government which is a reason for our successes. Moreover, BPDO’s experience as a recipient of funds from multiple donors helped to grow in its financial and subgrant management.

Wider geographic coverage: BPDO is currently implementing projects in Amhara, Harar, Dire Dawa, Somali, Addis Ababa, Gambella, Oromia, Tigray, Benishangul Gumuz and Afar regions. This presence helped to understand socio-cultural opportunities and challenges in different communities so as to achieve a sustained health need of the community.
Volunteerism: Volunteerism is BPDO’s one of the core values. Volunteerism has been the backbone of our engagement with the community. We believe that mobilizing volunteers as a change agent will help to reach more hard-to-reach community members, increase access and bring about a meaningful change.
Strong Financial and sub award management: BPDO has a comprehensive planning, budgeting system and well-organized policies & procedures like financial management, procurement and logistics management and human resource administrative manuals, safeguarding and anti-fraud policies to work with and for managing grant and financial operations. In addition, BPDO has proven experiences in implementing and managing Projects through sub grants to other Local based organizations as a subrecipient.
Strong Monitoring, Evaluation and knowledge management System: BPDO has well organized and functional M&E department with experienced expertise. The department has standard guiding documents like M&E policy and the team has practical experience in developing data management guides, data retention, protection backup up procedure, knowledge management guide, and routine data quality assurance SOPs. The M&E team has proven experience in using offline electronic databases and online systems line DHIS2, CommCare, and DATIM for data entry, retrieval, cleaning, analysis, and availing dependable data for data-driven decision making.
